Starting this blog marks an exciting new chapter in my journey as an aspiring environmental scientist. What began as a deep curiosity about the planet and public health has evolved into a growing passion for understanding how we interact with and impact the environment. Recently, I joined the Association of Environmental Sciences and Studies (AESS), a move that’s already introduced me to an amazing network of people and resources dedicated to tackling some of the biggest environmental challenges of our time. I’m eager to use this space to document my learning and growth, especially across the four areas that matter most to me: environmental health, environmental protection, sustainability, and climate change and ecosystems.

As part of AESS, I now have access to a range of tools and research that are helping me see environmental issues through a broader, more interdisciplinary lens. The journals, webinars, and policy discussions available through the organization dive deep into topics that directly relate to my interest, such as the links between public health and pollution, strategies for conserving ecosystems under stress, and how sustainability can be more than just a buzzword. It’s been eye-opening to explore how all these areas connect, and I plan to highlight the most impactful insights here on the blog.

Equally important is the community I’ve started to find through AESS. There’s something incredibly motivating about talking to other students, professionals, and researchers who are just as passionate about protecting the planet and improving lives. Whether we’re discussing environmental justice, local policy efforts, or innovative solutions to climate challenges, these conversations are helping me think more critically about the role I want to play in the field.

This blog will serve as my platform to reflect, question, and engage—especially around those four key themes: environmental health, protection, sustainability, and climate change. I’ll be sharing takeaways from the research I read, thoughts sparked by conversations with peers, and reactions to current events that intersect with environmental science. It’s all part of building a deeper understanding of what it means to be a thoughtful, informed, and impactful environmental scientist in today’s world.

Thanks for following along—this is only the beginning!
